Thursday is one odd day in history. And when we say odd, we mean the date is -- literally.

May 7, 2009, or 5-7-09 is one of only six dates this century that will feature three consecutive odd digits.

Numbers lovers say the rare occurrence is an excuse to celebrate.

Three consecutive odd numbers make up the date only six times in a century. This day marks the half-way point in this parade of Odd Days which began with 1/3/5.

The previous stretch of six dates like this started with 1/3/1905 — 13 months after the Wright Brothers' flight," said Ron Gordon, the Redwood City teacher who enthusiastically promotes these numerical holidays, like Square Root Day on 3/3/09.

Gordon is offering a prize of $579 to those who celebrate the date with the most zeal or who get the most people involved in an Odd Celebration. ”We've established a contest and are offering the date in dollars ($579) to be shared by the winners. Prizes will be distributed to those who involve the most people in the Oddest Parade of Odd Characters, write the best Odd Ode, or create the best Odd Celebrations.

Odd Days are the unsung numerical peace-keepers---if it wasn't for odd numbers, all the even numbers would bump into each other!

Hasta La Vista Windows Vista

Microsoft  Corp.'s next version of its Office desktop programs will reach consumers next year, though not likely in conjunction with the Windows 7 operating system.

Microsoft is set to announce Wednesday that Office 2010 will be finished and ready to send to manufacturers in the first half of next year.

From there, it can take six weeks to four months or more for the programs to reach PC users, said Chris Capossela, a senior vice president in the Microsoft group that makes Office. The timing will differ for big businesses and individual consumers, and for people who buy packaged software versus those who download it.

Some industry watchers had expected a new version of Office this year, but Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer extinguished that rumor at a meeting with analysts in February.

Capossela declined to be more specific about a launch date. Windows 7, the successor to Windows Vista, is scheduled to reach consumers by the end of January 2010.

Office 2010, previously known by the code name "Office 14", will include slimmed-down versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote that let people create and edit documents in a Web browser. Consumers will have access to a free, ad-supported version, and Capossela said the company is still hammering out what to charge businesses that want a version without ads.

Microsoft plans to let hundreds of thousands of people test a technical preview of the new Office portfolio starting in the third quarter of 2009, Capossela said. The company did not say whether average PC users will have a chance to test a more polished beta version.

Microsoft also said a new version of its Exchange e-mail server will be available for purchase in the second half of 2009. When paired with the next version of Microsoft's Outlook e-mail program, Exchange 2010 aims to prevent e-mail faux pas and would warn people against trying to "reply all" to a huge distribution list. Microsoft said it can also be tweaked to stop people from sending e-mail outside the organization, helping businesses cut down on unnecessary e-mail and prevent leaks.

The Windows 7 Beta is a pre-release version of Windows. While we consider this a stable and high-quality beta, it's not the finished product. It could crash your computer or cause you to lose important files or information.

The Beta will stop working on August 1, 2009. To continue using your PC, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before the expiration date. You won't be able to upgrade from the Beta to the final retail version of Windows 7.

The internet: Books and other products sold by online retailers can attract thousands of reviews. Why are they worth reading—or writing?

IF A book on Amazon.com, the leading online retailer, already has hundreds of reviews, is it worth bothering to add another? Evidently some people think it is. Peter Hoflich, a financial journalist based in Singapore, recently wrote the 3,250th review of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, for example. “I wonder if anyone will benefit from my review, especially since there are so many,” he muses. Oddly enough, somebody might. That is because the raw number of reviews or comments, and the proportion of positive and negative ones, sends useful signals to other people, even if they do not trawl through all of them. Accordingly, websites make it as easy as possible for people to add their comments.

Amazon was a pioneer in this regard: it has allowed customers to post reviews of books and other products for many years. Initially, publishers and authors were worried that allowing negative reviews would hurt sales. Online retailers have generally been reluctant to allow users to leave comments, says John McAteer, Google’s retail industry director, who runs shopping.google.com, the internet giant’s comparison-shopping site. But a handful of bad reviews, it seems, are worth having. “No one trusts all positive reviews,” he says. So a small proportion of negative comments—“just enough to acknowledge that the product couldn’t be perfect”—can actually make an item more attractive to prospective buyers.

The sheer volume of reviews makes far more difference, according to Google’s analysis of clicks and sales referrals. “Single digits didn’t seem to move the needle at all,” says Mr McAteer. “It wasn’t enough to get people comfortable with making that purchase decision.” But after about 20 reviews of a product are posted, “We start to see more reviews—it starts to accelerate,” says Sam Decker, the chief marketing officer of Bazaarvoice, a firm that powers review systems for online retailers.

Someday Never Comes

Giving Yourself an Out

Do you know how to tell a successful person from a unsuccessful one?. The easiest way is by the language they use. When you talk to a successful person about his goals, he`ll tell you what he plans to do and when it will be done. When an unseccessful person talk about his goals (assuming he has one), you´ll hear something along the lines of: " I hope to do this someday". Here is a clue for all you loser out  there: Someday Never Comes.

You know why a person with a loser´s mentality always uses words like "Someday", "I hope" or "I wish"?. He does it because it gives him an out and allows himself to not be accountable for his word. If he was to place a time limit to the goal and doesn´t do it, he fails and a loser hates failing. Winners has no fear of failing because they know success is made from a string of failures.

Everyone has dreams and goals. The only different between a dream and a goal is a dream with action. We all have dreams; becoming financially independent, having a family, helping charities, etc. However, how many of you have made a goal to achieve your dreams?. If you have, did you place a time limit on it,  or did you just say: "I`ll do it someday" or "I hope it will happen".

A goal without a time limit is not a goal

Can you imagine buying a presale condominium and not knowing when it will be completed?. The only answer the developer wil give you is; It´ll be finished someday. Would you buy it?. Well, imagine trying to sell your dreams this way: "Someday my dreams will come true". If you wouldn´t buy the condo, why would you buy the dream?.

If you wish to achieve anything in life, you have to place a time limit on it. A time limit forces you to take action instead of sitting on the couch saying " Someday i´ll get there". Don´t be afraid to fail. Know that failure is required in order to succed. You Will no find a successful person who doesn´t have a few stories to tell about their failures (I think a posting about some of my failures would make for a good future post).

Making a living off the internet is something many people want to do. It is something many of my friends dream of doing. However, after all these years, only two have actually done it. You know why?. They actually listen to me when i said: "Go, build a Site". Others whom I gave the same advice to were all positive, saying "Ya!. Sounds great, i need to do this. Working at a job sucks!".

We want to make a stop in our activities to express our condolences over the heavy loss of life and property in a deadly earthquake that struck central Italy. A powerful earthquake hit Central Italy killing 207 people, injuried about 1600 and leaved arround 75.000 homless, according to the latest report.

We wish to express our deepest condolences, and fellings to the families of the victims and to those injured in the earthquake. 

In Quebec,Canada several organizations have already co-ordinated their own fundraising campaign with a website, www.fcciq.cm, to help friends or relatives who were victims of the earthquake and its aftershocks

The GTA's 500,000-strong Italian community is ramping up its efforts to help victims of the devastating earthquake in their homeland.

Many local Italian organizations have kick-started fundraisers to provide relief for those suffering in the Abruzzo region, the area hardest hit by Monday's quake.

Francesco Riondino, a manager for the Italian Canadian Credit Union, said about $2,500 has been collected at their branches on Woodbridge Ave., in Woodbridge, and Dufferin St. and St. Clair Ave. W. in Toronto since they launched a fundraising campaign Monday.

"The response of the community has started to be great," he said. "The bulk of donations are coming in right now and it goes up by the minute."

The Abruzzi Federation for Greater Toronto and the Grand Priory of Canada Knights of Malta have opened a trust fund at CIBC. Ivana Fracasso, the federation's president said money donated to the fund will be used for a major project such as a school reconstruction. She said the federation will host events to boost fundraising and members from the two organizations will then visit L'Aquila to ensure "every penny" is spent effectively.

"We are trying to put our strength together for the benefit of our people back home," she said.

Smaller community organizations such as Club Abruzzi, a social meeting place and recreation club for seniors like Mario Ardizzi, 73, have started to rally members in an effort to develop some form of support package in the coming days. Ardizzi said he knows of no one at the club who has lost kin in the quake and he was happy to discover that his cousins living in L'Aquila, the capital of the Abruzzo region, escaped the quake unscathed.

First of all, what is money? Money is nothing more than a medium used to exchange for goods and services. Initially, it was an actual receipt for an amount of gold that people stored with the towns goldsmith. Money is also called fiat, which in the Black Law dictionary 5th Edition is defined as: Paper currency not backed by gold or silver (which is in direct contravention of the U.S. constitution). Nowadays, money is becoming digital, a mere number on a computer screen that is printed on a receipt and can be monitored and transferred on a thin, pocket-sized piece of plastic. Now that we know what money is, let’s talk about its origination.

The actual receipt or note for the amount of gold stored with the goldsmith was worthless, what gave it any value was the actual gold it represented. However, these notes or receipts had much more mobility than sacks of gold, so people started to view them as valuable. The goldsmith started to notice that people weren’t withdrawing their gold very often, if at all, after storing it with him. So he decided to loan gold via receipts, to other townsmen, assuming that they weren’t going to come withdraw their actual gold deposit anytime soon. He would charge an interest fee on these loans that were all profit to him, with no regards to the persons whose gold it actually belonged to. When these loan were repaid, he ended up profiting an actual amount of gold with an added interest amount, entirely based around the created value of piece of paper representing someone else’s gold. This fraud created the base principle that every bank in the world to date is built upon.

Banks today are actually built upon creating debt with a currency that is created directly on a computer screen. There is nothing that backs these notes anymore, only the mere thought of gold. We the people have created value in cash, and there is plenty of it out there. However, if everyone decided one day to withdraw all of there cash, like our once gold, from the banks, or the once goldsmith, the banks would fall hard because the majority would not be compensated for their own, hard earned currency. Why do you think that there has been talk about the government turning money completely digital and completely eliminating cash all together, forcing people into using checks, credit and debit cards as the only source of currency? There are already companies like paypal and alertpay who have profited off of this knowledge.

The ironic part is that even though the banks have the power to create money out of thin air, they need people to request these creations. They need people to request mortgage loans and car loans. They profit off the interest and the eventually paid loan. Actually, the banks profit either way! If someone is not able to repay their loans, they confiscate their properties and turn them into profit. The majority of the real estate across our nation is owned by a bank. The fraudulent principle that created banks, has given power banks the power and ownership of almost everything you see in your day to day life.

I’m merely scratching the surface of this monstrous mountain made of money, but what can we do about this?
